“The Implications of Response to Intervention”
Dr. Sean A Walmsley is co-editor with Dr. Richard L. Allington of the important book, No Quick Fix: Rethinking Literacy Programs in America’s Elementary Schools, the RTI Edition. This book reviews key resources that are important for classroom teachers, reading specialists, administrators, and others interested in fostering schools where all students learn to read. Dr. Walmsley’s book, Closing the Circle: A Practical Guide to Implementing Literacy Reform, K-12, is another important book to help teachers and administrators understand the literacy programs in their schools.
Dr. Walmsley will discuss the implications of intervention services that support children who have unmet instructional needs without fragmenting services for those children. He will highlight research based models that provide appropriate intervention services. Dr. Walmsley has been an advocate throughout his career for quality instruction for struggling readers and writers. We are fortunate to be able to present Dr. Walmsley.
Come early at 3:45 to network with other area educators, enjoy refreshments, and chat with our speaker.
