“Using Assessments
to Inform Appropriate Literacy Instruction”
Dr. Bixler will discuss important research that is the basis of her book. She will tell about the insights gained from working with teachers who used assessments and made appropriate instructional decisions about struggling literacy learners. The incredibly diverse problems teachers face each day were documented as teachers took responsibility for individual challenges the students presented.
Dr. Bixler is a well-loved professor at Mount Saint Mary College who teaches undergraduate and graduate literacy courses. Her book received outstanding reviews across the country such as, “This wonderful book is like a ‘Think-Aloud’ for teachers as they find ways to meet the needs of struggling readers.”
