Graphic Novels A Hudson Valley Story: Finding Mohawk Country

Guest Speaker: Mr. George O’Connor, Author and Graphic Novelist

George O’Connor is the author of the New York Times bestseller Kapow!, and other picture books including Ker-Splash, Sally and the Some-thing and Uncle Bigfoot. Newly released works include Ball-Peen Hammer, a dark dystopian graphic novel written by famed playwright Adam Rapp, and the first book of The Olympians, a twelve book series retelling the classic Greek Myths in comic form. His first graphic novel, Journey into Mohawk Country, was a long held dream that weaved together his passion for history and ongoing research into Native American life. Mr. O’Connor has engagingly woven an historical journal of the 1600s Dutch trader Harmen Meyndertsz van den Bogaert into a meaningful graphic novel. His talk, Finding Mohawk Country, will inspire educators and students to explore NY history and the quadricentennial of Henry Hudson’s voyage.
